Toshiba’s camera sensor manufacturing plant might be changing hands, according to several reports. The company is in need of cash and, sources claim, Sony will be helping out by buying the company’s camera sensor plant for $165 million.

Neither Sony nor Toshiba have commented on the reports but the reports claim that talks are developed enough that we will see an official announcement soon. As soon as this week, if you believe the talk.

Toshiba have long been suppliers of camera sensors but Sony dwarfs the company in terms of sensors sold. So the loss wouldn’t be much of a wrench for Toshiba but it would be the end of an age for the company. We’ll let you know if more official word shows itself.
