Mustek – a leading ICT distributor – is targeting growth opportunities in South Africa’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) market.

“I think the FTTH market in South Africa is still in its infancy stage. I think there is huge opportunity, as that starts taking off, for us to supply fibre products,” said Mustek MD Hein Engelbrecht.

South Africa’s two biggest mobile phone operators, Vodacom and MTN, have already stated their plans to provide FTTH.

Last month MTN South Africa – the country’s second biggest mobile phone operator – demonstrated its high-speed FTTH offering to residents of Monaghan Farm – an eco-friendly gated estate, located 30km north of Johannesburg.

Its FTTH is capable of 100Mbps.
