Samsung’s only gone and made a new product announcement, for a new high-end tablet which should be making its first appearance in August this year. The Galaxy Tab S2 is going to be arriving in 9.7-inch and 8-inch versions and the thin and light slate is going to be giving Apple’s iPad Air nightmares.

The 9.7-inch Galaxy Tab S2 is going to be just 5.6mm thick, with a weight of 389g (or 392g with the LTE version). Yes, it’s lighter than Apple’s current tablet. Thinner too.

Samsung’s putting 3GB of RAM and an Exynos octa-core processor into both tablets and they will both feature 32 or 64GB of storage space, with microSD capabilities. Makes sense, since Samsung says that the S2 is designed for “…productivity and multitasking”

There’s an 8MP/2MP camera combination, Samsung are including some monster batteries and the displays will feature a 2048 x 1536 Super AMOLED panel. Samsung haven’t given many details about pricing, nor do we know when it will land here, but it won’t be long before we see the S2 in person.
