We’ve seen Samsung try out some unusual combinations of technology in the past. There was that time when they combined a point-and-click camera with a smartphone, which didn’t work out quite as well as they might have liked. But then there’s this: a monitor that combines high-end screen chops with the ability to wirelessly charge devices. Can you say ‘Hell yes’?

Seriously, this is an absolutely awesome idea. Samsung have given their SE370 monitors – which are not available here in SA yet – the ability to wirelessly top up Qi-enabled devices, whether they’re smartphones or… something else.

All users need to do is rest their device on the base and the power-pack is charged up. Correct us if we’re wrong but that’s where most folks keep their phones anyway, right? This is something that should have happened ages ago, but we’ll take it now as well.

Expect to see more of this sort of thing as Samsung gears up for this year’s IFA event in Berlin. We’ll keep you posted.
