Windows 10 might be the main thing these days but that doesn’t mean that Windows 7 and Windows 8 are going away any time soon. Though Windows 7 Home has comes to an end as far as preinstalled PCs go, Windows 7 Professional will be sticking around until 31 October 2016 according to Microsoft.

Oddly, Windows 8 will be terminating on 30 June 2016, 8.1 and 7 preinstalls finish on the same date. Windows 10, of course, has an open-ended set of dates because it probably won’t be coming to an end. Ever.

If you’re going to be sticking with the likes of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 then you’re still covered for a while though. Microsoft’s Extended Support will be running until January 2020 for Windows 7 – plenty of time to make the change to something more modern.
