Samsung’s got some splendid display tech, we’ve said this many times. And we’re going to keep saying it, because it stays true. That doesn’t look like it’s going to change any time soon either.

Especially not if the company’s going to keep putting out tech like their ultra-wide Samsung S34E790CNS monitor. This is a frankly huge 34-inch monitor that gets its screen size from the additional width that the panel features.

How much extra? Well, a QHD monitor is usually 2560 x 1440 and the Samsung S34E790CNS sits between that and a full 4K screen with a 3440 x 1440 native resolution. Throw a GTG response time of 4ms on top of that, as well as the fact that this is a curved display, and you’ve got an awfully impressive screen on your hands. Or on your desk, as it were.

There’s a pretty limited range of connectivity available but that’s because Samsung’s assuming that this high-end screen is going to be paired with similar high-end gear. Thus, you have DisplayPort (x1) and HDMI (x2) to look forward to, as well as a headphone jack. DVI and VGA users… scale down your ambitions somewhat, you’re not ready for this one yet.

The Samsung S34E790CNS also included dual 7W speakers, the company’s usual run of software and colour tweaks are all in place (Mega Contrast Ratio and friends) and there’s also a USB hub function in the screen.

There’s an adjustable stand, as well as the option to wall-mount your display. All in all, this 34-inch screen could make an impressive TV substitute. Honestly, we couldn’t be happier.
