Do you want to see what a mid-range Huawei smartphone actually looks like? Not that thing from yesterday, the Huawei P8 Lite, which is a high-end device pretending to be a mid-ranger, this is the real deal and it has the price to match. We’re referring, of course, to the Huawei Y625 Dual SIM.

Inside this 5-inch Android smartphone you’ll find an IPS 854 x 480 display which conceals a quad-core 1.2GHz processor. The chip, according to Huawei, is a MSM 8212M. It’s unusual that the company isn’t using one of their own slivers of silicon here but that’ll likely change up in the future.

There’s also 1GB of system memory and 4GB of storage built into the Huawei Y625 Dual SIM, meaning that this smartphone has a touch of the entry-level to it in terms of space, but you can expand storage by 32GB with the microSD slot if you’re so inclined.

Look out for the 8MP rear camera, as well as the 2MP front-facer, which are a bit closer to mid-range than you’d expect from a device like this.

There’s also full Bluetooth and WiFi support in the Huawei Y625 Dual SIM, the latter up to the 802.11 b/g/n standards, and your choice of SIM cards thanks to the dual SIM slots. Gotta love having two phones in one, really.

To cap it all off, this Android 4.4 handset is home to a 2000mAh battery, meaning that you’ll be able to keep going for quite a while when Eskom kills the lights, as they’re about to do. Again.
