Since we were talking about Huawei’s tablets recently, it seems like a good idea to check out their 10-inch consumer offering, which still manages to fall into the ‘budget’ category. We’re referring to, of course, the Huawei MediaPad Link+ which is a 10-inch slate designed to be functional and affordable.
And they’ve managed to get it right. The 10.1-inch tab features a 1200 x 800 IPS panel, a 10-point multitouch screen that is clear as it is bright. It’s not quite true HD but you try finding that anywhere at this price point. We dare you.
Inside, Huawei’s own processor hardware is taking a turn to power things. That’d be the HiSilicon Kirin CPU, a quad-core 1.6GHz chip known as the Kirin 910. We’ve heard good things about it and Huawei’s knowledge of processor creation is only going to improve over time.
Backing up this in-house silicon are 1GB of RAM and 8GB of native storage, with another 32GB available if you’ve got a microSD lying around.
You can expect a 0.3MP front and 3MP rear camera, good for snaps and voice chat, and Huawei have outfitted this slate with Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and HSPA+ connectivity. And, like the 7-inch tablet from the company, you can actually use the Huawei MediaPad Link+ as a phone. If you’re okay with a 10-inch tablet on the side of your head, that is.
The Huawei MediaPad Link+ runs on Android 4.2 and it’s going to keep running for a while. That’s because Huawei has given this tab a 6600mAh battery, a Lithium-polymer affair that is just never going to run out…
Yeah, we know this thing is priced as a budget device but that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense now. But don’t tell Huawei, we like it that way.
