Samsung Galaxy S3

In a court battle of global tech giants Apple and Samsung, the former has managed to get a sales ban on Samsung for selling smartphones that violate its utility patents in the US. Although Samsung has already stopped selling the smartphones at issue, according to PhoneArena.com, it seems there might be deeper implications for patent infringements cases in the future. The Samsung smartphones that have been banned are the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Nexus, the original Galaxy Note and the Note 2, the Galaxy S2, the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and the Stratosphere.

In 2014 Samsung was ordered to pay $119.6 million however Apple failed to get an injunction on Samsung’s smartphones. The South-Korean multinational tech company has however received support from other tech giants, urgeing the US Supreme Court to reform patent law as to fit the modern context.
