It looks as though word of Microsoft’s plans concerning their upcoming operating system have leaked out, with a report from website ZDNet claiming that there is a “technology preview” of the OS coming up towards the end of September this year.

The report cites several unnamed sources as saying that Microsoft will be rolling out the preview some time between the end of next month and early October this year. The sources also claim that preview users will have to agree to have automatic updates send to the machines running the software, which will likely be called Windows 9, on a monthly basis.

Microsoft has not commented on the rumours of a public preview, though the sources concerned have claimed that Threshold, as the operating system is currently known, will be open to all users in the coming month. The newest iteration of Windows is expected to go on sale in 2015, so a round of public testing isn’t out of the question. It’ll be interesting to see which features Microsoft has in store for us.
