If this keeps up there aren’t going to be all that many surprises left for Microsoft at their upcoming hardware event. The event is due to take place on 6 October but we’ve already seen the Microsoft Band 2 fitness wearable and now the Lumia 550 smartphone making a premature appearance.

Renders of the entry-level Window 10 smartphone, as well as a selection of its specifications, have appeared online and we have to say that there are no real shocks in terms of design. The Lumia 550 looks like, well, a Lumia smartphone. As is typical with Microsoft’s devices, the design looks fairly premium.

The specs are a little less so but even then… the Lumia 550 features a 4.7-inch 720 x 1,080 AMOLED display, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 1.2GHz processor (presumably with 1GB of system memory, though this hasn’t been leaked) and 8GB of storage. The rest of the specs can be left to your imagination for now, as they haven’t appeared online. Yet.

And if the Lumia 550 somehow seems disappointing, don’t worry. Microsoft are reputed to be launching a couple of Windows 10 flagship phones at the same event so we’ve some something more impressive in store soon.
