There have been rumours flying about concerning Microsoft’s upcoming operating system update. Known alternately as Threshold and as Windows 9, the company has yet to give any official details about the software but an event in the States, planned for tomorrow, should change all that.

Reports claim that Microsoft will be giving out the official name of the new OS, which may stick with the current naming convention and be Windows 9 or might just be titled Windows. Even sticking with the Threshold title is a possibility as reports suggest that Microsoft has some all-new branding in the works.

Microsoft is thought to be heading in a unified direction, bringing together the Xbox One, Windows Phone and desktop Windows environments under a single banner. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to see whether they take that first step as the press event will be taking place in San Francisco tomorrow. We’ll keep you posted.
