Microsoft is on the move again, this time with the acquisition of a new email app company called Accompli. The app and the company bear similar names but what Accompli does is tied up all of your email accounts, giving users new ways to interact with the deluge of email that we all face on a daily basis.

The company said “This acquisition is part of our company-wide effort to help people accomplish more with their mobile devices. This year we brought Office to the iPad and the iPhone, and we recently announced that we’re bringing Office to Android devices. These are significant steps in our work to deliver the best productivity experiences across mobile platforms, and we’re continuing to push forward.”

This purchase by Microsoft, which has taken place for an undisclosed sum, isn’t really a surprise however. Their plans to add Accompli to their roster were leaked before, and perhaps prompted, the official announcement.

Now, we’re looking forward to seeing what Microsoft does with Accompli. It should be interesting. And productive.
