Lenovo have dropped the details of their past financial year, reporting a substantial increase in net profit over the reported period.

For the year ending in March 2014, Lenovo have reported net profits of $817 million (just over R8.5 billion). This total equates to a 29% improvement over the company’s performance for the previous year.

Lenovo extended their lead in the world’s PC market, accounting for 17.7% of all sales globally this year. They released some sales figures for the reported financial period as well: Lenovo sold 55 million computers over the year, along with 50 million smartphones and 9.7 million tablets. Those are not small numbers, particularly the computers total where the industry globally is in decline.

Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yuanqing Yang said “The record sales and profits that we delivered last year prove that Lenovo can grow and deliver its commitments, no matter the market conditions.”
