Lenovo will be expanding their reach soon with a planned purchase, which will see the company acquiring IBM’s x86 server business in the near future. The company announced the terms of the deal today in a press release.

The acquisition will involve IBM’s “…System x, BladeCenter and Flex System blade servers and switches, x86-based Flex integrated systems, NeXtScale and iDataPlex servers and associated software, blade networking and maintenance operations”.

According to the terms of the deal, IBM will be receiving around $2.3 billion for their server business, with about $2 billion being paid in cash and the balance in Lenovo shares.

A time frame for the deal’s completion has not been given.
