Does Samsung have a hyper-thin smartphone on the horizon? If an apparent leak by French website Nowhereelse.fr, who have a decent track record when it comes to leaks, is anything to go by then the answer is ‘yes.’

How can we be so sure? Because they’ve seen it in the er… silicon. The Galaxy A8, part of the Galaxy A-series (obviously), is apparently going to measure just 5.9mm thick – making it the thinnest smartphone that Samsung have ever produced.

That doesn’t mean that they’re leaving out the other aspects of the phone in order to create that skimpy profile. A Snapdragon 615, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, with space kept for a microSD, are part of the whole thing, as is a Super AMOLED 5.7-inch display. To cap things off, Samsung’s supposed to be including a 3050mAh battery with the A8.

As for when it’ll become official, that’s something we don’t know just yet. Samsung still has to make that announcement, but it should be soon.
