No, seriously, have you heard about Samsung’s Safety Truck? This is something that we could definitely use on South African roads, and roads around the world when you think about it.

Samsung’s Safety Truck, which was undergoing trials in Argentina, is a truck that features a front-mounted camera which transmits the road ahead to a collection of screens (made by Samsung, of course) at the rear of the vehicle.

The point is to give drivers behind the truck an idea of what is going on up ahead, essentially letting them see through a truck. Thus, they’ll know if they can overtake safely, whether there is a hazard coming up and generally be safer on the road.

Samsung’s hoping to get these legally on the road and there’s talk of other countries testing them  out. Hopefully we wind up on the list at some point.
