It wasn’t long ago that we heard that ASUS and Microsoft might be partnering up to improve the Hololens augmented reality headset. In exchange, ASUS was supposedly going to be getting access to some Hololens tech that would enable them to make their own headset.

It seems that this was correct, with ASUS confirming that they’ve got a headset of some sort on the way.

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen reportedly said in an earnings call that “It should be next year when we come out with a product,” adding that “we think AR (augmented reality) will be very important for people’s lives.”

What isn’t known is just what it will look like and how much of an influence Microsoft will have on the product. It’ll be good, either way, to have more AR on the market, particularly if ASUS can bring costs down a little.
