Review: Toshiba Tecra Z50-A0445
Some notebooks are all business. As in, they’re designed to be seen and used in the boardroom with other high-powered executives who are making decisions about the fate of the company. Enter the Toshiba Tecra Z50-A0445, which fits the bill and the look.
The Toshiba Tecra Z50-A0445 boasts a Core i7 4600U processor and a solid 8GB of DDR3 RAM, both of which are powering an excellent 15.6-inch Full HD display. Toshiba haven’t skimped on the display either, it features an anti-glare layer so everyone will be able to see that all-important presentation.
Storage is taken care of by a 500GB 7200RPM conventional hard drive. In a clever move for an office notebook, there’s also a 1GB Nvidia GPU taking some of the load off the other internal components – not that they really need the help but there you go.
Windows 7 Pro is installed out of the box and there’s also a Windows 8.1 upgrade to go along with it, if you need to get the Toshiba Tecra Z50-A0445 to conform to the rest of the machines in the company ecosystem. We’d stick with Windows 7 but that’ll change when Windows 10 comes out.
With a full complement of other features, minus an optical drive because this is an ultrabook, dammit, the Toshiba Tecra Z50-A0445 is quite the impressive bit of tech. There’s WiFi and Bluetooth access, biometric readers for you digits and the backlit keyboard is spill resistant. Just in case meetings get a bit heated.
And all of this is packed into a silver chassis that weighs in at a mere 1.8kg. Yeah, we’d say that the Toshiba Tecra Z50-A0445 justifies the Toshiba Ultrabook title.
