Review: Toshiba Excite AT7-B618
It’s time to take a look at something unusual for Toshiba – an actual Android tablet. Meet the Toshiba Excite AT7-B618.
The Toshiba Excite AT7-B618 is a 7-inch slate, one which packs a WSVGA display. To save you the trip to Google, it’s a 1024 x 600 resolution that you’re playing with but Toshiba have made sure that you’re working with a bright, colourfuly touchscreen nonetheless.
Inside is a 1.2GHz processor, a Rockchip dual-core that puts the Toshiba Excite AT7-B618 into the lower-to-mid range of Android tablet.
The company have included 1GB of RAM for this little slab, along with 8GB of storage out of the box. More than enough, all told, to run Android 4.2.2.
There’s space for expansion, if you’re looking to augment your storage, though so don’t worry about the space that Android takes up right off the bat.
In terms of connectivity, you’ve got 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi support as well as Bluetooth. 3G, sadly, isn’t a feature but we’d expect that from a 7-inch tablet priced the way that the Toshiba Excite AT7-B618 is.
Also along for the ride are dual cameras. There’s a 0.3MP front-facer, for those video calls we all love so much, as well as a 3MP rear camera in case you need to snap images of anything without hauling out your smartphone.
Honestly, it’s entirely possible to get better specs than this but then you’re looking to bump the price up considerably. If you absolutely have to have a tablet on a budget (like for a kiddy that is likely to demolish it) then the Toshiba Excite AT7-B618 is the first place you should look.
