Review: SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0
Flash drives are everywhere, right? So what possible reason could you have for spending more than a couple of hundred bucks on one of them? We can tell you the answer to that question – When it’s the SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0, specifically the 128GB version available from Mustek at the moment.
The SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0 128GB is more expensive than most but you do get what you pay for. And what you’re paying for is an aluminium casing, designed to protect the drive from all manner of knocks and bumps. But let’s not stop there.
The SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0 is also one of the fastest drives you’re going to find, speeding away from that old USB 2.0 drive you’re still using that it can’t even be seen. Once you switch to the Extreme Pro, you’ll never be able to go back to waiting for a data transfer to complete every again.
That’s because you’re looking at write speeds of up to 240MB/s, which is fast enough to make your ports blister. The read speed is even quicker, coming in at 260MB/s at the top-end.
Then there’s the included encryption software, which will allow you to secure specific files on the drive while leaving less sensitive documents unencrypted. You’re going to be safe (as long as you don’t forget your password).
And that’s without going into that whole ‘having 128GB of storage in your pocket’ thing. We would have thought the benefits of that would be obvious.
