Review: ASUSPRO BU201LA
Hey, look at the time. It’s time for a look at one of ASUS’ BU-series notebooks, the ASUSPRO BU201LA, also known as the ASUSPRO Advanced BU201. The notebook is part of the company’s business range and that means that it comes with all the bits needed to keep you going through the average day at the office. Even if that day includes a bit of overtime.
Let’s start with the chassis, which is a no-nonsense ASUS frame with a chiclet-style keyboard, brushed-metal finishes and general quietly-stylish looks. Just the thing for the board room, really.
The ASUSPRO BU201LA comes with a 12.5-inch IPS display, with a full 1080p resolution and anti-glare. That’s a good start, some of those meeting rooms don’t have the best positioning for the sun at certain times of the day.
But then we get to the proper hardware, the processor and friends. Intel’s Core i7 4510U has pride of place here, backed by 4GB of RAM (though a max of 12GB is possible) and 500GB of storage. Don’t worry about the storage allocation though, this is an office machine, after all. Intel takes care of the graphics as well.
ASUS’ usual run of supported ports, functions and connectivity features are all in place. Users will have USB 3.0, a webcam, Bluetooth, WiFi and a microSD card reader to fiddle with, plus there’s an bit of extra work-related magic happening. The ASUSPRO BU201LA is a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) machine and also ships with a fingerprint reader for a little biometric access.
So, about this being a business notebook? We reckon that it ticks all of the boxes. Right?
